Investors often rely on financial research when developing investment strategies, but this could be a huge mistake, according to Campbell R. Harvey and Yan Liu. In their article, Evaluating Trading Strategies, in The Journal of Portfolio Management's 40th Anniversary Issue, Harvey and Liu provide some new tools to evaluate trading strategies. When it is known that many strategies and combinations of strategies have been tried, it is necessary to adjust our evaluation method for these multiple tests, they advise.
